MAN, LIBERTY AND PROPERTY IN THE PAST AND TODAY
25th of September 2014
scientific conference
The issue of human freedom has become the most frequently discussed problem of social and political philosophy of the last decades. It has also become the most frequently alluded to concept in practical politics as well as in the media discourse. The global economic crisis of 2007 and its consequences, which still have not been overcome, have revealed the phenomenon of ever-deepening wealth inequality, which stand in contradiction to the equality proclaimed among the fundamental principles of the current democratic political systems. Economic and social inequality threatens the political freedom of man. Emphasizing exclusively positive correlation between freedom and private property performed by liberal theories has reached its limits today and it requires a more comprehensive view. The conference is organized under the VEGA grant No. 1/0565/13: "The Ideas of Man, Freedom and Private Property in the Socio-Political Thought of Early Modern Period."
Scientific supervisors:
doc. PhDr. Vladimir Manda, PhD.
doc. PhDr. ThDr. Tomáš Pružinec, PhD.
Mgr. Richard Sťahel PhD.
Organizing Committee:
Tatiana Mandová, PhD.
Mgr. František Medo
