The Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts of Constantine the Philosopher University, formerly the Department of Philosophy and Methodology, was founded in january 1990. Since then it has been preparing students to become teachers of philosophy and civics on secondary and primary schools.
In present the department is accredited to provide education in the following fields of study:
All members of department are qualified teachers of philosophy and civics and researchers in several specific fields and problems of philosophy and history of philosophy.
They publish their work in scholarly journals and conference volumes. They also prepare text books, educational materials, attend to Slovak and international theoretical seminars, conferences and congresses.
Student's research is highly supported. Students present their outcomes in annual student research competition (ŠVOUČ).
In present the department is accredited to provide education in the following fields of study:
- study programme Civics - Teaching of the academic subjects in the subject field of civics (bachelor's degree, master's degree) - internal and external form of study
- study programme Civics - further qualifying study – external form of study
- study programme Philosophy - bachelor's degree – internal form of study
- programme Civics (rigorous study - PaedDr. degree)
